Remember when IPAs were young and bitter? When you could see through them? When they celebrated not only the light floral fruity aromas of hops, but also delved deeper into the leafy, bitter side?
This is one of those beers. You can call it West Coast if you like, but these beers were being brewed all over the US, including on the East Coast (by Dann amongst others), throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. At Pretty Things, we made one called Meadowlark IPA, which was a fun beer that we used to drink the crap out of every Monday night while our friend John Funke played old Rockabilly and vintage Rock n Roll vinyl records at a cool Boston/Cambridge bar called State Park. Those were the days.
Look for a bright copper-orange colour, 60 International Bittering Units, and a heaping amount of Simcoe hops.
